Please note the following limitations about your AVEVA™ Unified Engineering – Browser Access desktop:
-
Due to security policies and Service Level Agreement requirements, you do not have administrator privileges. As a result, you can only perform actions permitted for a standard Windows user.
-
Due to security policies and Service Level Agreement requirements, the following Application Control restrictions are in place:
-
You can only run AVEVA-signed or Microsoft-signed executables, DLLs, and PowerShell scripts.
-
Unsigned or untrusted PowerShell scripts will run in Constrained Language Mode.
-
.vbs and .js scripts cannot be code-signed and are allowed only if explicitly permitted by policy (hash).
-
.cmd, and .bat scripts cannot be code-signed and are allowed, however objects that these scripts call that are subject to Application Controls will be restricted.

By default, the session disconnect timeout is set to 15 minutes. Your streaming session will remain active for up to 15 minutes after an unintentional disconnect (such as closing the browser or a network interruption). After this period, the session will end, and you will be connected to a new session with a fresh instance. If you choose to end your session using the 'End Session' option on the toolbar, the timeout does not apply. Instead, you will be prompted to save any open documents and then immediately disconnected.
-
Each session has a maximum duration of 960 minutes (16 hours). After this time, the Workspaces Applications (formerly AppStream 2.0) session will end, and any unsaved work or files will be lost. A warning message with a 5-minute countdown will appear before termination.
-
.NET customization of the AVEVA™ Unified Engineering application user interface is not supported. The use of PML1 and PML2 customization are supported.
-
A limitation of the platform and software is that touch-based devices, such as IPads and tablets, are not optimized for use and therefore are not supported.
Network Printing
Network printers cannot be discovered or used within the Unified Engineering - Browser Access session. This is because Workspaces Applications does not support:
-
Network printer discovery
-
Domain-joined printer availability
-
Printing from browser-based streamed desktops
Additionally, the Workspaces Applications Windows Client is not supported for Unified Engineering - Browser Access.
Workaround: To print documents, users must utilize the application's native export functionality, where available, followed by the File Transfer feature to transfer the files locally for printing on on-premises printers.
