Installing PowerShell Extension for SQL Server

If you are intending to deploy AVEVA NET Gatekeeper and AVEVA Change Manager from a machine other than where Microsoft SQL Server is installed, you will need to install the PowerShell Extension for SQL Server so that the deployment tool can communicate with the SQL Server.

The PowerShell Extension for SQL Server requires you to download the necessary files from the Microsoft SQL Server Feature Pack collection page for your respective SQL version. To install the PowerShell Extension for SQL Server:

  • For the appropriate SQL Server version, download and install the three feature packages in the order they are listed:

    • Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42295):

      • Microsoft® System CLR Types for Microsoft® SQL Server® 2014 (SQLSysClrTypes.msi)

      • Microsoft® SQL Server® 2014 Shared Management Objects (SharedManagementObjects.msi)

      • Microsoft® Windows PowerShell Extensions for Microsoft® SQL Server® 2014 (PowerShellTools.msi)

    • Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=52676):

      • Microsoft® System CLR Types for SQL Server® 2016 (SQLSysClrTypes.msi)

      • Microsoft® SQL Server® 2016 Shared Management Objects (SharedManagementObjects.msi)

      • Microsoft® Windows PowerShell Extensions for SQL Server® 2016 (PowerShellTools.msi)

    • Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/sql-server/sql-server-2019)

      • Microsoft® System CLR Types for SQL Server® 2019 (SQLSysClrTypes.msi)

      • Microsoft® SQL Server® 2019 Shared Management Objects (SharedManagementObjects.msi)

      • Microsoft® Windows PowerShell Extensions for SQL Server® 2019(PowerShellTools.msi)
